The Carrier, Alps 2018-22.

With 'The Carrier', irene grau encompasses a series of actions that she carried out in the Swiss Alps during the summer months of 2018, referencing the practice of hiking as well as the traditions of landscape painting and monochrome painting. In this project, the Spanish artist set herself the premise of creating a series of backpack paintings and using them to undertake a series of hikes in the footsteps of important Swiss landscape painters such as Caspar Wolf, Alexandre Calame, Aberli, François Diday and Ferdinand Hodler. The aim was to reconstruct the walks of these painters in the alpine mountains and to revive them. Each backpack painting, which is always based in size and color palette on a painting by one of these famous Swiss painters, was painted outdoors shortly before heading out on the hike, so that the drying process of the painting corresponds to the course of the hike. In addition, each painting is supplemented by notes in the form of a booklet that includes the route, elevation information, time, and photographic documentation of the hike. In this way, the landscape adheres to the painting on a physical level.

Large project that includes 28 oil paintings with backpack handles and 26 booklets with the documentation of the walks and its technical information. Each painting is linked to a walk and its corresponding booklet.

El proyecto 'La porteadora' recoge una serie de acciones realizadas en los Alpes suizos durante los meses estivales de 2018 relacionadas con la práctica de caminar, así como con las tradiciones de la pintura de paisaje y la pintura monocroma. La premisa consistía en construir un conjunto de cuadros-mochila y realizar con ellas una serie de caminatas, siguiendo los pasos de algunos de los paisajistas suizos más importartes como Caspar Wolf, Alexandre Calame, Aberli, François Diday o Ferdinand Hodler, tratando así de reconstruir y recuperar los propios paseos que éstos realizaron por las montañas alpinas. Cada cuadro-mochila (de las mismas medidas y gama cromática que el original) fue pintado au pleinair justo antes de comenzar a caminar, con lo que el proceso de secado coincide con el transcurso de la caminata. Asimismo, cada uno tiene su propio registro en formato librillo con el recorrido realizado, anotaciones sobre la altitud, el tiempo, así como un registro fotográfico que documenta la caminata. De este modo el paisaje se adhiere a la pintura en un plano simbólico.

Amplio proyecto que comprende 28 cuadros al óleo con asas tipo mochila y 26 libretos con la documentación de las caminatas y su información técnica. Cada cuadro está vinculado a una caminata y a su correspondiente librillo.
