17 paintings. Coal from Cerredo, anthracite from Fabero, mining dump material, charred smoke from Lois, black lacquer on canvas and pine stretchers dyed in black.
9 photographs. Ultrachrome print on Ilford Galerie Smooth Gloss paper, mounted on dibond, methacrylate and on pine stretchers dyed in black.

[...] it can be seen how this exhibition carries out a kind of work of mourning around those first two states, which have marked with fire – never better said – the mountains of León (northwest of Spain). Can anyone fail see irene grau’s black monochromes as symbols of this melancholic condition? There is earth in this black painting: the earth of the gleam of metals, of the opacity of matter, of the fluidity of water, of the shining and burning of the flame, of the human effort and pain that melted and beat with it.[...]

[...] puede verse cómo esta exposición realiza una suerte de trabajo de duelo en torno a esos dos primeros estadios, que han marcado a fuego —nunca mejor dicho— la montaña leonesa. ¿Cómo no ver los monocromos negros de irene grau como símbolos de esta melancólica afección? Hay tierra en esta pintura negra: la tierra del brillo de los metales, de la opacidad de la materia, de la fluidez del agua, del resplandor y la quemazón de la llama, del esfuerzo y el dolor humano que se fundió y batió con ella.[...]
